Welcome to Sycamore Class

Sycamore Class is a part of the Aspire Pathway.  Within the pathway classes have topic areas which are rotated over a two-year cycle and changed termly/half-termly. Numeracy and Literacy skills are developed throughout all the topics. Phonics, Number and Reading are all taught weekly, three times a week within Sycamore.  Learning time is dedicated to developing pupils’ reading, number and spelling and writing skills through planned learning activities at a level that is appropriate for the child.

In Sycamore Class the approach is to contribute to the holistic development of pupils before they leave for secondary school and eventually later life. It is important to help equip pupils with the skills they will need for later life and build their understanding of the wider world and society. To do this, the approach in Sycamore Class will enable pupils to:

  • Develop a passion for learning
  • Develop independence
  • Become equipped with strategies to help with self-regulation
  • Build upon emotional resilience to situations
  • Be motivated and enthused by a challenge
  • Approach work confidently and creatively, asking for help when unsure.
