Welcome
A few words from our Headteacher, Mr Jonathan Curtis
Welcome to the Hawthorns Primary Special School website. As well as providing you with our latest news and key information, the website aims to capture the daily magic and exciting learning that takes place in our school every single day.
We have a highly committed and skilled team of staff who provide a happy, stimulating, and safe learning environment for the children in our care.
The Newbridge MAT’s vision of “creating meaningful futures and destinations”is at the heart of everything we do. Through 4 pathways, our curriculum is designed specifically to empower our teaching team to provide the opportunities for all pupils to progress towards their aspirational destination whatever that may be using individualised resources and strategies.
In September 2024 we have moved into a purpose-built school in Hattersley which will facilitate the delivery of the curriculum even further and expand the opportunities for all pupils. We are excited to be able to develop our school offer even further and grow into our new environment and local community.
At Hawthorns, we value coproduction and working with families and carers to build successful and trusting relationships in the interests of all pupils. We collaborate with all agencies to provide effective support for our pupils, and we provide advice and training for other schools for the children in their settings.
We are immensely proud of all our children and the many things they achieve. It is a privilege for those of us that work here to share the learning journey our pupils take. We encourage them to be resilient, build their confidence and independence, and we show respect for the individuals they grow into during our care.
We hope you find the website provides a flavour of our school, and that you find what you are looking for. If you are considering an admissions application, please come and visit us to explore if we are the right environment for your child. We look forward to meeting you.
Jonathan Curtis, Headteacher
