Meet the SEND Team

SEND Manager - Stevie Manion

As a SEND manager I am responsible for co-ordinating the statutory processes detailed in the SEND Legislation. I make sure every child has an EHCP review, and I facilitate EHCP reviews for Y2 and Y5 pupils personally to support Key Stage Transition Planning.

I also link closely with the Local Authority SEND Team and Health and Social Care agencies to strengthen the multi-agency working relationships that support the children and families at Hawthorns School.

Background

Prior to my role here, I was the SEND Lead in a Mainstream School with an ASD Resourced provision as well as completing my postgrad. Prior to this, I was a SEND Assessment Officer for a Greater Manchester LA for seven years.

Kinds of Questions I can help with

You can ask me anything and I will try and answer or point you in the direction of someone who can.

I am your go-to person to ask about SEND legislation and code of practice

Any issues around EHCP content and updates or appeals, or the process for requestion a place in school.

I can also act as an intermediary with supporting agencies and raise any requests for referrals with the class team and our SENCo as needed.

Who I work most closely with...

In school I work most closely with Louise Neild (Our EHCP Co-Ordinator) and Liz Hillier (Family Advocate) alongside SLT and class teachers.

Outside of school I work closely with the Local Authority SEN team and also link with ISCAN integrated services to monitor the packages of support for the pupils on role at Hawthorns.

EHCP Coordinator - Louise Neild

I am the EHCP Co-Ordinator here at Hawthorns. My job is to ensure all the processes and information requests linked to admissions, EHCP reviews, referrals to external agencies and transitions are completed effectively and as efficiently as possible.

In addition to this, I act as a point of contact for our External Agencies and ensure sharing of good quality information, so the best possible support is in place for the children and families as soon as possible. I am also a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Background

I have been working with Hawthorns School for over 18 years. I have seen its development and expansion and have used this connection with the Hawthorns Family to build strong and trusting relationships with the families, agencies and the staff here. During my time here, I have been PA to Headteacher and senior leadership team as well as the Clark of Governors.

Kinds of Questions I can help with

I have an in-depth knowledge of the school and its processes so I can help with lots of things or know the best person who can help you!

I am best placed to help with understanding where children are up to in referrals/review processes.

I can help you with understanding who works with the school and the different types of support they offer.

Who I work most closely with...

I work most closely with Stevie Mannion (SEND Manager) around SEND Processes. I also work closely with the Administration staff, Family Link worker and SLT to track children’s progress.

I also facilitated meetings with families – especially when at the early stages of a referral to ensure the family voice is captured in our referral information to external agencies.

How you can contact me.
