Welcome to Fig Class

We are one of the youngest classes in the Connection’s pathway; with 8 children and 4 staff. We love to learn in a play based environment; we use a combination of EYFS style continuous provision, Attention Autism ‘topic’ sessions and some 1-1 learning. We use the SCERTS framework to support our learning and to develop our social communication and emotional regulation. Our classroom is a sensory considerate environment with lots of space for child led learning. Our key priorities are developing our early behaviours for learning and developing our communication & regulation.

The Adults in Fig Class are:

 Name  Position
 Miss O. Simms  Class Teacher
 Miss K. Green  Teaching Assistant
 Miss M. Burns  Teaching Assistant
 Miss S. Stewart  Teaching Assistant

We develop our communication, play skills and early behaviours for learning through a variety of topics throughout the year.  Our continuous provision links to our topics as well as the EYFS areas of learning.  We have topic sessions which are engaging and motivating for pupils to ensure we develop a love of learning. While our learning is child led, our class teachers play with us making sure our play is purposeful, meaningful, and tailored to our targets.

Parent App

Hawthorns school now has a parent app (PA Connect) The app is now the school’s main way of communication.  This reduces the amount of paper we use as an Eco School.  All letters, newsletters and important message will be sent directly to your phone or tablet via the app.  Parents and carers can also update changes in emergency contact numbers that we have on our systems for your child.  For more information about what else the parent app and a step-by-step guide on how to install the app click here
