Welcome to Elm Class
We are a Key Stage 1/2 Connection’s Pathway class based at Hawthorns School Wildbank Provision. We offer a naturalistic learning environment which entices our learners to fall in love with the social world. Engaging in multi-sensory, hands-on and interactive experiences is our passion. Our environment is highly sensory considerate and supports pupils to regulate each day.
We use the SCERTS framework to support our pupils to develop their social communication and emotional regulation. With a variety of both Social Partners and Language Partners in Elm Class our key priorities are to support and encourage pupils to use and develop their communication methods for a range of social purposes; teaching pupils to regulate and remain regulated and happy throughout each day and also learning how to use our transactional supports to request things that we may want or need.

As well as developing our communication and regulation skills, we also cover a wide range of exciting topics to expand our interests in the world around us. Our topics are personalised around the pupil’s interests! All of our sessions are hands on and engaging to ensure pupils develop a love for learning. Each session is differentiated to the individual child just ensure learning is meaning and purposeful to all.
