Last year was an exceptionally successful year in all areas of the school, culminating with our very pleasing Ofsted Report. While therw are still areas, such as the outside spaces, that we want to develop further we are now able to call the new building “home”.
It's also an exciting year as we have 5 new Governors to work with us full time from September and we’ve got some great plans for the year. One priority is to relaunch out Parents & Teachers Association, called Friends of Hawthorns, with a view to holding events and fundraising for the school in the coming months and years – watch this space as we will be asking for volunteers.
Changes to the school day...
Many thanks to all families for working with us while the slight changes to the school day take effect, so far it has worked very well.
Id also like to thank all families for their patience with any issues or concerns with transport so far this year, we are working with ITU and the contractors to fix any issues ASAP.
In other news to start the year...
P.E. News - School Games Mark Award. We are really proud to announce that Hawthorn's school has achieved platinum status once again. The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme which celebrates schools' commitment to developing competitive sport and physical activity within their school.
The platinum award is available for schools that achieve gold consistently. This is all thanks to the amazing work of Miss McCormick and the team.
All classes have had lots of fun in their first week and we look forward to seeing more next week.
See you all soon
Jonathan
