An Update from Mr Curtis (19.9.25)
It has been a great start to the new school year with lots happening on and off site.
Hawthorns enjoyed exploring Roald Dahl day throughout the school in lots of different ways.
Sycamore, Blossom and Maple class learnt all about Roald Dahl's life creating fact files, learning about the new words he created and all his books.
Ash and Oak enjoyed dressing up as characters from Roald Dahl's stories.
Some of the children in Woodlands and Meadows had a Friday film afternoon for Starblazers in our school 'cinema' or in class, watching films such as The Enormous Crocodile, The BFG, Matilda and Charlie & the chocolate factory.
Beech, Holly, Fir and Olive coloured some lovely pictures of characters from Roald Dahl's stories ready to decorate the library areas alongside some inspiring Roald Dahl quotes.
Blossom and Jasmine class made dream jars in their Science lessons, and Maple designed their own chocolate bars in Literacy!
Pine Class did a James and the Giant Peach minibeast hunt - carefully finding bugs in the forest and drawing them into our peaches. We then enjoyed peaches for snack.
Hawthorns football team went to a Manchester City disability football event and were fantastic. We took two teams and both did very well winning every game except for one in each of our groups with some notable performances from all the team members. Its great to see the children so active and enjoying sports! The teams were an absolute credit to the school, and we had an amazing day.
Family coffee morning - our first coffee morning of the year was a great success last week. A huge thank you to the families who are running the mornings in the family room. We will continue to hold them weekly on Wednesdays from 9.30 in the family room.
