Welcome to Aspen Class

We are a mixed Year 2 & 3 class in the Aspire pathway at Hawthorns school. This class focuses on creating and supporting independent learners. We are hoping that when the children move on from Aspen Class, they will be well versed in the routines of the school day and confident in their own independence. The children have individualised targets depending on their personal focus and lessons are designed to be short and engaging. We try to work out of our seats and be creative. We love building our attention skills during different stages of attention autism sessions and also using our fingers to build up our hand strength in our fine motor skills sessions.

The Adults in Aspen Class are:

 Name  Position
 Mrs K. Sykes  Class Teacher
 Mrs A. Kennedy  Teaching Assistant
 Mrs D. McGeoch  Teaching Assistant

As well as developing our independence and socialisation skills, we also cover a wide range of exciting topics to expand our interests in the world around us. Topics have a History, Geography or Science focus. All sessions are hands on and engaging to ensure pupils develop a love for learning.  Each session is differentiated to the individual child just ensure learning is meaning and purposeful to all.
