Welcome to Ash Class
We are an Early Years class within the First Steps Pathway at Hawthorns School. We love to learn in a semi-structured environment with a higher emphasis on learning through play and increasing social awareness and peer-to-peer interactions. The curriculum in Ash Class is guided by the EYFS Development Matters, EQUALS scheme of work: My Play and Leisure and SEE-KS (Social, Emotional, Engagement – Knowledge and Skills). Our key priorities are supporting pupils to follow rules and boundaries and successfully engage in social interactions, turn-taking and co-operative play.
The Adults in Ash Class are:
|Miss L. Green||Class Teacher|
|Mrs R. Scott||Teaching Assistant|
|Miss J. Handley||Teaching Assistant|
|Mrs P. Badrock|| Teaching Assistant
As well as developing our communication and interaction skills, we also develop our early curriculum skills in line with the EYFS framework. To achieve this, we cover a wide range of exciting topics to expand our understanding of the world around us – these are often linked to children’s interests. All sessions are hands on and engaging to ensure pupils develop a love for learning. Each session is differentiated to the individual child to ensure learning is meaning and purposeful to all.
Here are the topics will be covering this year:
|Autumn Term 1||Autumn Term 2||Spring Term 1||Spring Term 2||Summer Term 1||Summer Term 2|
|All About Me||Let’s Play / Christmas||Traditional Tales||Amazing Animals (Farm Animals)||Julia Donaldson||Under the Sea / Seaside|
